Ashley Cagir, Adam Moss, and Mia Shao will be presenting their internships. Join us via zoom!

Ashley Cagir:

Adam Moss: DynaMedex Information Retrieval
Abstract: Information retrieval is an important subject of inquiry because it focuses on how to best meet information needs of users. At EBSCO, search functionality is a key performance indicator of their many clinical products, including DynaMedex. My main project provided an evaluation of user satisfaction of their search functionality in comparison to EBSCO's main market competitor.

Mia Shao: Utilizing Wearable Devices to Detect COVID-19
Abstract: Latest wearable devices such as smartwatches have unique features and sensors that can help diagnose COVID-19 symptoms. This project recommends that smartwatches should be used to supplement to COVID-19 testing and diagnosis, to help save time and help protect further infection. This project seeks to identify the solution to the standard slow and risky COVID-19 testing and diagnosis, which involves health workers taking samples, taking the patient’s samples to the lab, and waiting almost 24 hours to get the results. This process exposes health workers to risks of infections, and the patient gets to walk away to the public, where they can spread the virus if infected.
