Health Technology Symposium: Health Ethics at the Intersection of Data and Technology

Health technology is a growing area of research, education and clinical care. New devices, mobile apps, software, and data sources are radically changing the landscape of medicine, with great potential for changes to also extend to ethics and morality within this context. The Health Technology Symposium, hosted by the Carolina Health Informatics Program and the Health Sciences of Library of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will address a wide range of topics relating to the ethics of health technology including

  • Genomics and precision medicine,
  • Costs and benefits of technology-based clinical interventions
  • Research ethics in the Big Data era, and
  • How new technologies may alleviate or exacerbate existing inequities in treatment or research.

Speakers will include UNC-Chapel Hill researchers, researchers from nearby institutions, and representatives from industry, government, and non-profits. Students and professionals are encouraged to register!

Featured speakers can be found here.
