The Department of Geography, GIS Graduate Certificate Program and the University Libraries’ Davis Library Research Hub jointly invite current graduate and undergraduate students of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to participate in an Innovative Use of GIS Competition. Separate awards will be presented to the graduate and undergraduate winners.
In addition to the awards, the first place undergraduate and graduate winners will be asked to present their work at the upcoming bi-annual NC GIS Conference, where they will receive the G. Herbert Stout Award for innovative use of GIS. The NC GIS Conference will be held in Winston Salem, NC, Feb 27- March 1, 2019. The G. Herbert Stout Award provides an award ($50 in the past) and free conference registration.
Competition details:
To enter the competition, please send an abstract of your work and supporting documents, which could be a research paper, scholarly article, map(s), website, video, etc. using the following form.
Submissions will be accepted no later than December 31, 2018.
A panel of GIS experts at UNC Chapel Hill will select the winners. Winners will be announced by Jan 8th, 2019.
Awards will be selected based on their scientific value, creativity, and clarity.
