Position Overview
The Research Analyst is responsible for data extraction and manipulation and ensuring data quality and integrity related to research. Provides technical and analytic support for research projects including creation of analytic datasets for one or more studies.

Essential Duties
- Participating in operationalizing variables and translating research questions into appropriate functional and analytic designs
- Providing technical/consultative services in the context of research projects and networks
- Creating and managing research datasets in support of research projects and preparatory-to-research activities
- Summarizing data into various formats including reports, tables, charts, and graphics
- Conducting data quality checks and improvements
- Creating and maintaining technical documentation related to research data and processes
- Assisting the team in preparing presentations and publications to disseminate findings from research activities to scientific and technical audiences
- Partnering with other OCHIN departments and affiliated research institutions, as appropriate
- Performing other duties as requested by the research team
Qualifications
Research Analyst I
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative or technical field (e.g., data management, computer science, biostatistics)
- Minimum 2 years working with health care data (electronic health records, claims data, etc.)
- Minimum 1-year programming experience with data querying and/or statistical software (SQL and SAS preferred)
Research Analyst II
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative or technical field (e.g., data management, computer science, biostatistics)
- Minimum 5 years working with health care data (electronic health records, claims data, etc.)
- Minimum 3 years programming experience with data querying and/or statistical software (SQL and SAS preferred)
Additional Qualifications
- Ability to explain technical information and data in a user-friendly manner
- Working knowledge of statistical theory and hypothesis testing, quantitative analysis methods, and data management techniques
- Proficiency in standard desktop computing software packages (word processing, spread sheeting, presentation software, internet browsers, etc.)
- Comfortable working independently under conditions of fluctuating workloads and competing requirements; able to set priorities, work efficiently, follow through on assignments with minimal direction
- Preferred: Experience working with complex relational databases; ability to read, write, and maintain SQL code; database query skills and experience cleaning large, messy datasets
- Preferred: Knowledge or experience with Epic EHR or Clarity database
- Preferred: Knowledge of community health centers and safety net healthcare
- Preferred: Health-related research experience
