Summer Internship
Interns will be responsible for providing their own transportation and housing for the summer. Interns are ineligible for employee benefits. Interns must have authorization to work in the US.
Project Summary

Internship in Molecular Diagnostics Programs within Medical Affairs: assist in developing analytical reports for biochemical genetic testing programs. Create novel web-based learning aids for diagnostic testing, assist in variant curation for inherited genetic disorders and assist in internal dashboards development for program activities.
Responsibilities including, but not limited to:
- Develop web-based tools to improve biochemical & molecular genetic test results interpretation for internal and/or external use
- Assist in internal dashboard reporting and data visualization (PowerBI) for diagnostic program activities
- Assist in variant curation for inherited genetic disorders
- Develop JavaScript-based training modules with D3 visualization on biochemical genetic testing and molecular diagnostic programs and program reporting
- Perform ad hoc data analyses to address queries of molecular diagnostic programs for biochemical and genetic testing programs
- Summarize program data for best learnings and external peer-review publication
Technical Requirements & Skills:
- Pursuing a Master’s degree in a relevant field of study: Health informatics/ bioinformatics or equivalent with a working knowledge of molecular genetic diagnostic testing and results reporting; working knowledge of HGVS nomenclature
- Bachelor degree: in biology, biochemistry or similar
- Enrolled as a full-time student with plans to return to school in fall term
- Available to work 40 hours/week during normal business hours
- Working knowledge of next generation sequencing and genetic disease inheritance
- Experience with data visualization software, PowerBI or Tableau, familiar with HGVS nomenclature and molecular genetic testing results reporting
- 2+ years of experience with: Python, and 1+ years of experience with one or more of: JavaScript (please note any experience with D3), HTML
- Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Demonstrated ability to successfully manage competing priorities & deliverables in a fast-paced, dead-line oriented environment
