OptumLabs is looking for an intern to support the formulation and strengthening of scientific arguments about how to implement patient-centered, value-based care, particularly in the space of prevention of autoimmune and allergic disease. This position will include assisting the team in the development of well-positioned arguments grounded in scientific literature that are tailored to broader audiences including our business and clinical colleagues.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Help our core team develop a multi-year research program aimed at getting preventive interventions adopted as standard of clinical care by leveraging a combination of technology, data analytics, and behavioral strategies
- Identify emerging opportunities relevant to immunologic disorders and underserved populations through review of current trends and developments in the fields of allergy and autoimmunity
- Critically evaluate publications and clinical trials from multiple sources and synthesize internal reviews and position papers based on these findings

Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a relevant graduate program (biomedical sciences, microbiology and immunology, public health, bioinformatics, medicine, nursing)
- Writing sample that demonstrates your ability to read, understand, and communicate the results of scientific findings (e.g., literature review, thesis paper excerpt)
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization. F-1 visa holders with Optional Practical Training (OPT) who will require H-1B status, TNs, or current H-1B visa holders will not be considered. H1-B and green card sponsorship is not available for this position
- You will be asked to perform this role in an office setting, however, may be required to work from home temporarily due to space limitations
- Employees are required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener prior to entering the work site each day, in order to keep our work sites safe. Employees must comply with any state and local masking orders. In addition, when in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are expected to wear a mask in areas where physical distancing cannot be attained
