Description:
The Carolinas Center for Medical Excellence seeks a Health Quality Data Analyst to perform high level analyses in support of clinical quality improvement activities. The analyst will conduct data collection and leverage existing data to identify business needs and recommend areas of focus for health quality improvement. An integral role to ensure that CCME receives data from multiple resources which will work collaboratively with IT and Business teams to determine resources needed to improve identified gaps in data collection and analysis and to develop recommendations for quality improvement based on findings. The individual selected for this role will be mainly responsible for creating analytical solutions based on desired healthcare outcomes mostly in the field of population health, quality improvement, Medicare, Medicaid and data validation.
We expect you to:
- Serve as consultant to managers and directors regarding study design and consults on and leads heath care quality improvement initiatives
- Determine requirements for data collection used for surveys and quality studies
- Demonstrate expertise in translating data analysis and evaluation into reports and visual displays as required by CMS
- Perform a variety of data-related tasks which may include analyzing and interpreting data from partners and providing results using statistical techniques, cleaning and preparing lists for quality improvement needs, creating and maintaining reports from a variety of sources, and additional tasks as assigned
- Demonstrate expertise in extraction, aggregation and quality assurance of data from multiple resources, in support of project reporting, qualitative and quantitative analyses
- Validate data contained in a database file and test data to identify data integrity issues
- Consult with data providers, vendors, programmers and end-users concerning the outline of data requirements
- Actively and creatively participate in data-related projects, including but not limited to data normalization, data maintenance, data research, data standardization, data product development, and data quality assurance
- Respond to requests for data by determining user’s needs, collecting, organizing, and analyzing data, and providing accurate and complete reports and information.
- Perform checks and audits of various data sources to ensure data adheres to data governance and maintenance policies
- Educate and assist in problem solving to promote the implementation of the health care initiatives and research
This position is contingent upon anticipated contract award date of 9/2020
Who You Are:
The successful candidate meets the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in health information, information technology, computer sciences or equivalent work experience required
- Master’s degree preferred in public health, health-care statistics, epidemiology or related field
- Minimum four (4) years of experience in data management and/or data analytics
- One (1) year of experience with advanced data visualization and/or analytics tools required
- Must have strong Excel and SQL skills
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in manipulating large healthcare data sets from varied sources and assessing both wide and narrow-scale trends in support of quality improvement initiatives
- Prefer 3 – 5 years of biostatistician experience biostatistician
- Ability to select and apply statistical and analytic approaches
- Ability to assist with determining study designs and evaluation plans
- Strong knowledge of data, data objects, data structure, and industry standards
- Ability to express and communicate data expectations and outcomes
- Ability assist in development of provider and stakeholder education materials
- Ability to conduct analyses with SAS or similar analytic software
- Working knowledge with ICD, CPT and revenue codes
- Demonstrated competence in oral and written communication
- Demonstrated knowledge of big data sets and electronic health records
- Knowledge and application of data cleansing and migration techniques
- Demonstrated analytical skills and passion for analyzing data
- Experience with data modeling, data governance and master data management is a plus
- Ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and independently
