About CHIP
Carolina health informatics program
The Carolina Health Informatics Program (CHIP) is an interdisciplinary and collaborative initiative. Nine academic units on UNC campus collaborate to support CHIP operations including the School of Medicine, School of Pharmacy, School of Dentistry, School of Nursing, College of Arts and Sciences, School of Public Health, School of Data Science and Society, Health Sciences Library, and the School of Information and Library Science.
CHIP offers a Master of Professional Science in Biomedical and Health Informatics (MPS BMHI) that can be completed fully online or on-campus and a PhD in health informatics. The student population is diverse totaling over a 100 learners from around the world. The program prepares scholars for careers at the intersection of healthcare and technology. Coursework focuses on establishing fundamental and contextual knowledge of the healthcare sector as well as building technical and research skills to make meaningful contributions to the quality of patient care.
