Vibhor Gupta, CHIP Doctoral student, recently had the opportunity to attend BioHackathon Europe! BioHackathon Europe is an annual event that brings together life scientists from around the world. It is organized by ELIXIR Europe, and offers an intense week of hacking, with over 160 participants working on diverse and exciting projects. This year, BioHackathon was hosted near Barcelona, Spain.
Vibhor’s abstract was selected as one of the top 32 projects to be presented at this event. His work involves creating a web application to store and view VCF files, which capture variants in tumor or normal populations. He developed this application using a non-traditional database, TileDB. This innovative approach resulted in a superior application for storing and exploring files on the fly, overcoming limitations of traditional technologies.
“It was my first opportunity to engage with scientists and researchers from around the world, particularly within Europe. The interactions allowed me to learn about various innovative tools and research projects, which was both inspiring and insightful.” -Vibhor
